Founded in 1812 by the Methodist Conference for the education of the sons of ministers, The Grove now welcomes pupils and staff of all denominations and none. Rooted in traditions which have stood the test of time, we are nevertheless flexible enough to meet changing demands and to look to the future. In recent years the school has grown (now 700 in the senior school from age 11) but we are still small enough for all pupils to be known well and to make their mark. The Christian foundation shared by Bronte House and Woodhouse Grove is apparent in the school´s concern with individual character and commitment, its programme of religious, personal and social education and its public contribution through charity work. Pupils are encouraged to be honest, caring and conscientious - like our Founders - and ultimately to decide for themselves a moral code by which to live. |
