During the lunch period, after school, in the evenings and at weekends, The Grove becomes a hive of extra-curricular activity. As well as sports fixtures and training sessions, there are debates to enjoy, orchestras, bands and ensembles to join, languages, dance and drama to practise, art club, chess, design and technology and fencing to discover and develop. All pupils are encouraged to take part in clubs and activities outside the classroom and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Many pupils excel in particular areas, but many join in just for fun.
Our 70 acre campus has excellent facilities to support our extra-curricular timetable. We have a modern sports centre, a fully equipped fitness suite, heated indoor swimming pool, outdoor all weather multi-purpose courts, theatre and dance studio, and a dedicated music building with practice rooms and a recital room where there are regular musical soirees for parents to showcase the talents of our pupils.
We encourage everyone to take part in charitable activities that help both the local and wider communities. Some of our pupils are involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award projects, both locally and further afield, which provide valuable experience of life beyond school with the opportunities for overseas expeditions. Travel is an important part of education in Senior School. Many students go overseas in connection with their studies or as part of a sports tour and pupils also get the opportunity to work with overseas charities. Recently, a group of pupils travelled to Kenya to work in an orphanage and helped to build a library.
